Psychedelic Preparation & Integration
Psychedelic experiences can be powerful and healing, but also sometimes overwhelming. The experience itself is only part of the process — careful preparation and thoughtful integration are often what shape the therapeutic process. This clinic offers non-directive preparation and integration support for individuals who are considering or have already had psychedelic experiences. No substances are provided or administered at this clinic, with the work focused on psychological readiness, safety, and integrative meaning-making.
Why Preparation Matters
Preparation helps clarify:
Your intentions and expectations
Emotional history and psychological vulnerabilities
Personal strengths and internal resources
Potential risks and contraindications
How to approach the experience with stability and care
Mindfulness plays a central role in preparation. The ability to observe thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations without becoming overwhelmed can significantly influence how one navigates altered states of consciousness. Building this capacity beforehand often supports greater resilience during and after the experience.
Why Integration Matters
Integration helps make sense of the experience and translate insights into grounded, sustainable change. This may involve processing emotional material, working with trauma that surfaced, exploring meaning, or strengthening nervous system regulation.
Approach
Our preparation and integration support draws from the EMBARK model, an evidence-informed framework developed from ongoing clinical research and psychedelic trials. EMBARK integrates contemporary clinical science with mindfulness-based and contemplative traditions.
The model recognises multiple domains of experience, including:
Emotional processing
Mindfulness and embodiment
Behavioural change
Relational patterns
Meaning-making and existential exploration
Spiritual or transcendent experiences
Mindfulness is central to this approach. Rather than chasing peak experiences, the work emphasises presence, nervous system regulation, emotional awareness, and compassionate self-inquiry. These foundations help individuals navigate non-ordinary states safely and integrate them responsibly. This work can be especially relevant for those with trauma histories, where careful preparation and ongoing integration are essential.
