“Yoga was a more effective treatment for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder then any of the drugs we had studied…”

Yoga
Yoga has long been used to support healing and wellbeing, helping people gently reconnect with their bodies through breath, movement, and mindful awareness. When practiced in a safe and supportive environment, it can foster a more compassionate relationship with the body—an important part of trauma recovery, emotional regulation, and embodied resilience.
What We Teach — Ashtanga Yoga (Mysore Style)
We offer a specialised type of yoga class under the Ashtanga Yoga tradition called Mysore class, where students move through the practice at their own pace with individual guidance from the teacher. The sequence provides a structure to work with, but it is adapted to each person’s needs, experience, and capacity. Because of this individualised approach, the practice is suitable for everyone from complete beginners to experienced students, and yoga teachers alike. From time to time, workshops, mentoring, and training sessions are also available.
What Makes Mysore Classes Different?
Unlike the usual group guided yoga classes, a Mysore-style class is mostly quiet, as instructions are offered individually rather than taught to the group. This allows space for students to turn inward, move with their own breath, and experience the meditative qualities of the practice. Over time, this approach helps students build their own sustainable and self-directed practice — something they can then take with them wherever they go.
Led Ashtanga Yoga Class
We also offer Ashtanga Led style classes, where students are guided through the sequences together using traditional Sanskrit cues. This class is designed to support those already familiar with the Ashtanga Mysore-style practice, helping to refine rhythm, breath, and to become more familiar with the meditative vinyasa count of the sequences. If you are unsure whether this class is suitable for you, please feel free to ask.
When & Where?
All classes are run at Art of Flow Studio in West Ryde. Mysore classes are on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturday mornings from 6am - 8am, come anytime between 6-7am. The last Saturday of each month is an Ashtanga Led class and there are quarterly meditation Q&A sessions throughout the year on the Fridays replacing a Mysore class.
